Me and my brother used to play WC3: FT back a few years and recently have tried playing it again but when one of us creates a game it does not show up on the local area network, we are both connected to the same Internet connection but we still cant see eachothers games.

Please help, Mark. SolianHelix Honorable. Aug 1, 21 0 10, I am a long time WC3 player as well, and the issue here is your firewall. Make sure that both you and your friend disable your firewalls before trying to connect. If you do not feel the need to disable your firewall, you can always add a 'exception' to it. Add a Teacher Note to share how you incorporated it into your lesson. For this to work your going to need a static IP address.

If you know you already have one skip to the next step. By the way i'm assuming your running on the same system as me Windows XP but i believe it is fairly similar on all systems anyway. To start your going to need to figure out your current IP address and other little things. Start by clicking start convenient isn't it click run and type in "cmd" and hit enter.

To do this your going to need to open control panel Start, control panel Now there may be a few connections in here and were going to need to change the one you use to access the internet. If you don't know which one it is, right click on one and hit disable then refresh your web browser. Once you've found out the right connection your going to have to right click it and click "properties". Once your in this window look under the "this connection uses the following items:" and right click "internet protocol" and yet again select "properties".

A window should pop up. But before you change anything jot down the current information shown just incase things get screwed up.

I want you to click "Use the following IP address". Now your going to need to make your own IP address but it shouldn't be to hard seeing as it will be the exact same as your Routers IP address Default Gateway except for the last group of numbers. So if your routers IP is The last numbers can't be anything though it should be between and definately shouldn't be the same as the routers IP address or this won't work.

Now once you've found out your IP adress your going to use and entered it, i want you to enter the information you got before from cmd and put on that piece of paper.

Warcraft III + Frozen Throne MULTIPLAYER via Hamachi

Subnet mask, Default gateway and the DNS servers should all be the same as before. Now test your connection by opening up a new internet window or refreshing the current one. Hopefully it works, if it doesn't your going to need to call who ever provides your internet and ask them what your DNS servers are Because this is usually the problem. Once they tell you, simply just enter this into the correct spot.

Test your connection, and if it works Great! Now open a new browser or tab and type in your Routers IP address By default its Now it seems there has been a major misunderstanding that even I had that was recently cleared due to a warcraft veteran that goes with the username leviathan.

I want to play Warcraft 3 through LAN with a friendso we have the same Internet Providerbut when we try to host a mapthe other doesn't see it in the Local Area Network in the game.

We tried Hamachi too, same problem. Is there any way we could play togheder through LAN? I must specify we have the same Warcraft 3 version 1. I must specify there is like km feet distance between our housesif it really matters. DopeturtleApr 28, Are you sure you're connected within the same LAN?

And transmission line attenuation also increases with distance fyi. FluxApr 28, Same internet provider is not enough to make it work over LAN. Which basically means that unless you got Nasa's internet, playing locally from km is impossible. My wifi at home barely work in the garden so good luck getting it to work 1 km away. SquiggyApr 29, Joined: May 12, Messages: 44 Resources: 0. Just Use Hamachi PiaNaJun 15, Whenever either of us hosts a lobby, the lobby information appears incorrect to whoever is joining and the map name as well as other map-related information appears edit: such as lobby slots as question marks. We are both using the same version of the game.

Why is this happening all of a sudden? We have reinstalled the game numerous times and still cannot play LAN games. You can play via LAN, but both players need the map. You cant download maps in LAN, then it closes the game.

Yeh get the same here… It seems they went with it because it is common for Apple local network discovery. With recent security scandals such as wanacry Windows native equivalent, SMB, has been in disrepute I guess.

At least allow direct IP connect, a feature that games used to have decades ago…. Apple could not do that without major legal repercussions, especially in the EU which is also one of their biggest markets.

As for the original problem. I suggest looking up Bonjour related connectivity problems. It could potentially be caused by local network, or even PC, firewalls and such blocking the required communication packets. We have always been able to download maps via LAN in the past.

I just tested things out again and we are able to play LAN games with standard melee maps IF we jump through a strict hoop.

The first time one of us joins the LAN lobby with a standard melee map, the lobby closes for both players. If we load up the same standard melee map again, we can get into the lobby and play. If we load up a different standard melee map, the lobby closes again.

Thanks for your answer. I have disabled the windows firewall in both computers, however, I can only see the matches created in one of these computers, but no the other. Is there a way to go back to a previous w3 version that uses the old protocol? There should be no reason to prevent people from downloading maps via LAN and then getting right into a game with said maps. Whether or not this change was intentional, you should change it back. I have bonjour service on and all my Lan and battle.

How to Host in Warcraft 3 / Port Forward Your Router!

Works perfectly for me as well, and everyone else I know. I even ran 4 LAN games simultaneously using local loopback with it. It seems just a select few people like andreasasp2 have issues with it. These will likely be fixed by Apple and Blizzard soon anyway for the next patch. I play in 64 bits. Everything works just fine, in lan or battle.
